This came on after removing the upper brake lamp for fuel pump replacement. Turned ignition on before sun deck re-assembly to check for leaks etc. so lamp was unplugged at that time. Once re-installed, warning message continues. Have tried disconnecting battery for a while. Hope this isn't too dumb a question for this forum. thx

Are both bulbs lighted?

If so, check all bulbs and sockets, especially the wiring.

Never seen a wiring problem [unless owner butchered] always bulb sockets, bulbs, sensor shunts with bad solder connections.

Common for 1 buld to burn out setting off alarm in 3rd housing.

I'll try re-seating/replacing the bulbs. The housing may have been jostled in all the commotion. Thanks for the tips. C.A.

Man, I hope you can figure this out - I replaced a corner light and my dash still reads the same on my 91Q. Things that make you go hmmmm......

I have to check mine as well. Is it safe to have the lights on while looking at them after taking them out of the housing? (While still having the bulbs plugged into that white part.)

Just asking.

I see no harm in it, but watch your fingers so you don't burn them on a stop lamp....

Cool. Thanks for the advice. I'll check it tomorrow and have my brother press the brake. When removing the bulbs, I don't have to disconnect the battery right?

No need to disconnect the battery... you don't really have to worry about getting shocked in automotive electronics. The exception might be working directly at the battery, or with a discharging capicitor on some audio setups.

The concern is typically toasting something electronic, or if you short something out on metal on yourself (say a ring) and it heating up...

Anyway, I would feel free to mess with the tail light bulbs while they're on... as mentioned above the biggest worry is burning yourself on a bulb.

Ok. Thanks guys. I'll try to get rid of that message. It's been annoying me almost daily in the year that I've owned the Q. Occasionally it went away and the display would say "OK".
