Specifically how do you remove the wheel hub?

Does the removal of old bearing & pressing of new one require a trip to a machine shop?

Any other important points?

We haven't seen many problems with Q45 wheel bearings, but T3 usually recommends replacing the entire hub, rather than trying to correctly press in a replacement. I have a noisy one that will need attention soon, myself.

I've replaced all 4 wheel bearings many occurred between 160-220k, usually both passenger sides go first due to that side of road roughness.

Probably will need to do it again as 317k now.

To test... park the car on a level with wheels straight and steering locked. Squat down and grip the tire (hook your fingers in the treads) on opposite ends. In other words, you're hands will be as far apart as possible on the tire. Rock gently yet firmly... If wheel bearing is bad, a slight play will be felt at point of hub. No play whatsoever = good wheel bearing.

Bad wheel bearings = tire wear as there is no way to align properly.

PS: I have had my drivers side wheel bearing replaced. Must be pressed off/on by a shop.
