Not on my Q but someone's that I worked on this afternoon.

Heres what I did.. We replaced the door assembly, complete with everything... However, I wasnt able to get the door handle off! So, right now the Q is running with 3 of his factory locks, and the one from my old Q... I gave him the key to my old Q so he could lock and unlock that door...

Right now, when you go to lock the door by flipping the lock lever or pressing the button, it locks and then immediately the car unlocks it. The only way we can get the car to lock itself is to lock all the doors with the battery unplugged.

Do you think it has anything to do with my key cylinder being not recognized by the BCM? before we did the swap everything works.

It is probably something in a bind in the linkage.

Another idea, is a loose wire. Layla did this periodically. I could press against the passenger arm rest or slam the door, and the doors would lock, then unlock, then lock. When I was unlocking the doors with the remote, it would unlock, then immediately lock again.

If I took the door apart, and re-set all the wiring connections, it would work fine for a few months, then start to act up again.

Lola looses communication to the driver's door LAN moudle periodically, and the seatback stops working, and the easy access quits. I have to unplug the module and wiggle the wires, then reset the battery, and she is fine for a few months. One day, I will have the time to check the connectors, but until then, I will just keep doing the quick fix.

I played with the linkage and it didnt seem to be binding... before I plugged the door in, i moved the linkage around and it seemed good. that was one of the things I didnt have to mess with...

I think i'll be seeing this car again in the not so distant future to swap the door handle. so ill doubel check the linkage.

I had replaced mine, but the problem persisted. It was in the wiring harness in both situations.

I would think the module is either good or bad, not intermittent.

Yes, If it's the exterior handle you are reffering to, you have to get at it from the inside of the door panel. There are 2 bolts holding the actual handle assembly in place.

As I have stated before, I don't always explain intricate details well. I would almost have to have it in front of me and talk someone through it.

I have done many r/r latches on several brands (foreign/domestic) and they are all similar in some ways with some (F150 rivet) being real boogers!

I undid the 2 nuts... I also undid the rod for the latch... It seems to be caught up on the lock assembly.. do you have to do anything with that?

Thanks heath.. Got it out, however the switch did not fare so well.... 1994-2006 RIP..

Probably ought to write an article about this.. You dont have to undo really anything to get the lock cylinder out of the door which is what I wanted to do, just undo that little pin and there you go, it'll slide right out.

I wish I had all that info when I tackled mine - However I would have missed out on the natural tendency to want to figure out how it works. (part of my ongoing therapy)

I love this forum! It's like the easy button at Staples

Just so everyone knows...

if the interior lights fuse (under hood fuse box) is blown, the locks wont work properly....
