I want to replace the broken factory CD changer and I have done some searching but is a substitute still available? Search results were from '05 and the local stereo shop was no help at all....

Sony was still rehabbing them some time ago. You have to be persistent and use the Sony number, not the Infiniti part number.

A good substitute is an adapter cable made by QSIguy (Shane) that plugs in to the back of your 94-96 Bose head unit and lets you plug in your Ipod or MP3 player. Not a bad deal for $30-$40. Another option is an FM modulated player that transmits its signal through the antenna to a preset FM station. I had this in my 94Q until I got Shane's cable.

About a year before sending it out to me, my mom had a 6 disc changer installed in my Q. I don't know about the wiring connection, and if it's custom at all but the changer is a Clarion CV737, which after doing a little research comes up as one that's been discussed here a number of times.

Someone got one from IOS in 2004 for $180 apparently, but I suspect that's going to be tougher now.

Yes, the CV737 was the dealer installed under the parcel shelf option for later G50 Q45. Only a 6 CD capacity.

You should just find yourself a clarion cv737. I just bought one last month and it was a plug n play.

The Clarion 737 should be easy to find as it was used on many Infiniti AND Nissan models. Direct plug in to replace failed OEM Sony 10 disc changers on 94-96Q.
