I just got my 94 q45 yesterday (and so far I am loving it), but I am having a problem with the cd changer. Whenever I hit the CD button on the deck it just says "CD ERR" I figured it was maybe just a lose wire or something like that so I checked all the wiring and everything looks good, and I checked to make sure the magazine was inserted properly and that all of the CDs were inserted into the magazine properly. Has anybody else seen this particular error? I can't live without my cds and don't want to spring to get the deck replaced right away, because i have to get the damn speakers replaced as well (stupid independently amped speakers!). Anyway, any help is appreciated, thanks!

Welcome to NICO, tell us more about your Q, pics, color, miles, etc. You will find a wealth of info here about your car and how to take the best care of it.

I did a quick search for "ERR" and found these 2 that may offer help.

Do you have the 10 disc changer? i believe that one is flawed and you must downgrade to a 5, 6 or 7 (I can't remember)

WRONG!

Do a search on CD player and you will see how many of the problems are solved.

Welcome to the board. The search button is your friend.

The 6 CD Player is a later after market solution when the 10 CD players were no longer available.

There's a place here in Phoenix that will return the 10-disc to new condition for between $100-150. Mine's there now.

It is a 94, silver with 152k miles on it. I overpaid a bit because I really wanted a 94 and there just weren't any around in the Seattle area. I ended up paying 9500 after all the fees and ****. After looking at what you guys are paying it makes me feel a bit bad about it, but it was a definite upgrade from the 86 Honda Accord with almost 300k miles on it ;) I will be getting some pics in the next few days but I want to get it detailed and everything first.

First thing to try...... Unhook it...... There should be a connector easily accessible, coming from the left hand side of the player......

I had the same problem, and I unplugged it for about 20mins and it worked great after that!!!!!

GodFather, welcome to NICO. I too, have a silver 1994 Q (check the avatar, and my link in the signature). I also, came from a 1990, then a 1993 Honda Accord. I also have had CD Changer problems. My "ERR" message, was from the cartridge not fully engaging. The little chrome bar, that gets pushed down, by the cassette, needed to be "persuaded" up a bit (Be careful). I unplugged the changer for a half hour, or so, and mine works well, not perfect.

A rebuild is probably the solution (Like AZHitman). Mine tends to scratch the outer edges of my CD's, and I have lost the last song on a few CD's. (10 ruined CD's is more expensive than the repair).

Someone paid $46,000.00 for that car, in 1994, so the $9,500.00 you paid, is a deal.

My frist Infiniti, is the brand-new 2000 I30t, I bought my wife for her birthday, in 1999. I have owned several Missans, and my share of Maximas. I have great confidence in the Nissan brand.

I neded up getting frustrated with it today and going to cartoys and getting a completely aftermarket system put in. Alpine on the deck and front speakers and pioneer in the back. More then I wanted to spend, but at least I have CDs again. With the amount of driving that I do, CDs were a definete necessity. Thanks for the help and welcome!!

The Bose system uses crummy amps.(Bose sucks.)

So are they rewiring everything for you? I very STRONGLY suggest looking into getting a Nakamichi deck. There is no car audio system in the world that can beat a Nakamichi for crisp, clean audio reproduction. And the looks match the old Bose system and the rest of the interior very well. Nakamichi is what Lexus used for their stock system in the early to mid 90s ES and LS sedans. Puts Bose to shame.

Yes, a Sony 10 Disc is available, but the condition is unknown. I was thinking about ebaying it, but if somebody here wants it first, I'll gladly offer it to them.
