My friends. Having replaced more injectors than I can count, and having ripped apart the top side of the engine to do so, I have decided that I am too old to continue this activity. I really like the car, and this is almost my seventh year of owning it(120K miles), but I have come to the conclusion that short of replacing the injectors along with new o-rings every year, there is no way to have any degree of reliability. Just recently I went through two starters trying to start flooded engines. The car is visually in beautiful shape, aside from wear on the drivers seat and arm rest. There are some residual problems with the fuel injectors although they average less than one and a half years old, and the starter needs to be replaced. There are lots of good parts including the transmission which was factory rebuilt at about 40K. Please contact me if interested. Thank you all for your help and support over the last few years.

Buy a 99-01.

Cheap, nice, reliable, sorta-fast, cheap, quiet, nice looking, smoooove, cheap and they don't seem to eat injectors the way the more masculine Q's do.

You might have to start sipping your drinks with your pinkie extended, but you'll be drinking more and wrenching less. Good luck and I can't say that I blame ya. If mine starts eating injectors with regularity it will be donated and I'll take the full Kelly BB value on my taxes.

I think you need to read 1990Q45 injector posts where he is trying (with success so far) aftermarket injectors.

In AZ, you are running rejected CA crapgas.

We have the TX crap gas. I have read the posts about the CMH(?) injectors and have one installed. If I were to keep the car, I would have replaced the remainder with these. My more recent problems were random and complete failure of injectors and o-rings, and this was after pressure checking the rails and having injectors ohmed and flow tested by a local shop. That is all history now, as I just purchased an '06 M35(23K miles). So, for a small amount one can acquire a '94 Q with lots of parts replacements. Please send an email and I will send pictures and specs, [email protected].

I think it would be more cost effective to replace the engine with a JDM take-out

If you do a lot of freeway driving the gas savings will pay for it

How does that make any sense? I dont know what makes people think that JDM motors are like brand new motors, granted internally they may really good but as far as injectors, alternators, waterpumps, knock sensors, etc, theyre just like any 15 year old car.

The average Japanese only drive 4,000 miles per year so it takes 12-15 years for the vehicle to reach 60,000 miles and be junked...................all those early pristine wrecks and totals have been long ago exported and used up in swaps.

The sweet spot was in the late 90's and early 2000's to buy a JDM Q engine now all that are left are picked over rejects and AGED units.

Boy did we see many beautiful examples in 98 and 99 that probably had 12-20k on them.

Only DFW and Houston have ethanol. 93 RON pure petroleum everywhere else.

Sounds like the selection of chiquitas I ran across on my last venture out bar-hopping with my buds. Fortunately I have a low mileage, pristine unit in excellent condition and I am not searching for a used one.

JDM swapped saves a considerable amount of fuel. A round-trip to Antioch takes a 1/4 @ 80-100mph. The other takes 1/4 one-way trip @ under 75mph.

But I don't expect anyone to believe me if they have a textbook stuck up their ###... I'm just throwing it out there.

Never said its a new motor. Its more like buying a used house - Maintenance required.

But why the ignorance?

Look dude... my other Q... I can calculate how much fuel I lost from missing my turn and having to make that u-turn (with all that traffic + driving to the next block).... the other is comparable to my honda with gas prices so low.

What really grabbed my attention about this injector situation is the potential for serious engine damage when you have a large scale flooding situation. The only way I know to get on top of the situation is to change out all of the injectors every year and this is not assured. I am really disappointed that Infinity never got around to correcting the situation. Hopefully this new source CMH(?) has solved the problem.

A JDM 4.5 liter Q engine burns less fuel than a USA version 4.5 liter Q engine??? THATS ABOUT THE DUMBEST COMMENT I HAVE EVER HEARD.

Im really not trying to start anything here, but I dont understand anything in this post, nothing makes sense...

Im assuming you have a JDM motor in your 93 and the factory motor in the 94? 1/4 tank for about 100 miles (about 54 miles on way from Hayward to Antioch) is about 20ish MPG, not bad for a Q. The JDM motors and US motors are identical for all intents and purposes.. You probably have something wrong with the other motor if you're only getting half the MPGs.. but it has NOTHING to do with having a JDM motor or not!
