Thought that some of you might find this useful. Just replaced the TPS on my Q(98K) after noticing that there was a cut-out spot on acceleration. This gave a hard 3-4 shift when the cut-out spot and the shift point coincided. In trying to track down the problem, which was a classic TPS symptom, I tried using an analogue ohm meter to locate a rough spot on the TPS potentiometer but with out the slightest success. After changing the TPS anyway, the problem totally was taken care of.

Why you use a min max memory VOM and cycle slowly thru the range of accelerator. A few times.

Have seen it before wouldn't call it common.

Thanks Q45tech:What I like best about your solution is that, given the driving symptoms, most of us would have turned turned our attention to the the MAF without completing the testing of the TPS. I am wondering if other forum members have gotten into this difficulty, and think that our compatriots would find this helpful. As a side comment, Joe at Scottsdale Infinity mentioned that he typically sees the TPS on these early 90 Q's fail at about 75K miles
