Have a 94 Q45 that is really loud in the rear. I think it is the differential. And believe it needs to be replaced. Local guy wants 1300 to replace .

Will a R200V work? Does it need to be specifically for my Q? :

buy a used one from a junkyard or from somebody parting out their Q in the classifieds sections for around $300 + $200 labor install (2 hour job max). It is rare to have a Q45 diff fail so buying a used diff is a good bet. For $1,300 you could have a custom made 4.08 vs stock 3.54 rearend made.

Y33 is way better in that respect. I got 4.083 diff for 35$ zerothread?id=136080It took me ~2.5 hrs start-finish to get it in. I think Q45 should have 4.10 (4..083) diff from factory! It is a beast now!Cheers!

I just bought a 4.11 from a GT-R for $350.

As soon as I swap it, I'll have a "slightly noisy" 4.08 available, it whines a bit but works good; AND a 75K mile OEM diff (3.54 ratio).

loks like 5-point half shaft flanges. the 94 needs 6 point, or custom half shaft spacers.

dude...that is a 240 diff....you need a Q45 diff and besides that diff is a rust bucket. you can do much better than that.

Probably a dumb question... but you're sure it's the differential and not a noisy fuel pump?

Remember that R32-R34 are all interchangeable..... It doesnt have to be from the GT-R just has to be a skyline 4.08

The whine doesn't vary with engine speed, only forward motion. But thanks.

Wow - I've checked out a lot of skyline diffs and I've never seen a 6-bolt flange. Must all be from R32s or GTs-ts.

Also, they are a slightly different ratio - 4.11 as opposed to the 4.08 we're used to seeing.

Different ring and pinion than the Z32 / J30 / 180sx commonly found.

Sounds like I'm really better off with a genuine Q Diff. Are all years swappable?

No as FY33 are different from G50, but G50 TCS requires 4 channel ABS connections and axle rotation sensors as opposed to other 3 channel driveshaft speed sensor.

the active Qs had the extra speedo sensors, as well, iirc... So getting one from a TCS OR active G50, you should be in business.

I still have my stocker with low miles, but shipping would be a PITA (it's like 80 pounds).
