My TCS is acting-up, throwing it into failsafe mode. How do I disable the TCS or at least prevent it from going into failsafe? I plan on repairing the system if possible, but won't have the time for a few weeks.

When you turn it off it is off, until the next crankcycle. Are you saying the warning light bothers you, then remove control module [tcs cpu]?

I take it that you are saying the TCS failsafe is turned off by pressing the TCS button. Will give it a try today. I was under the impression that this button was non-functioning with the failure in the TCS system.

What is fail safe..................just that the TCS is non functioning.

The rear brakes just respond to brake pedal and the auxillary throttle plate is held in the normal position...................the same as turning TCS off.

Tech, Are you talking about removing the TCS module in the trunk? If so, I don't think I recommend that. I tried to unplug the TCS module a while back to disable the system and I ended up getting an ABS light to match my TCS and SLIP lights. I don't recommend disconnecting the TCS module. If there is another module you are referring to, please explain.

I've taken out the fuse under the hood and disabled the TCS but still had the two lights on the dash.

You said disable the system not anything about the warning lights that are a safety feature to WARN you!

Well, when I unplugged the TCS module in the trunk and got the ABS light on the dash I was under the assumption that the TCS module I unplugged also controlled the ABS in whole or partially. If I only wanted to disable the TCS that was not the way to do it.

They are integrated because the wheel sensors feed both systems and loop thru TCS.

A hard disable would be to remove the aux TPS connection or TCS aux throttle motor connection or the TCS relays or power to pump.

Probably the correct way is to swap all components harness etc from an equal year non TCS donor car.

We never even considered this due to liability of deleting an oem safety system.

I don't blame you, I would never do a procedure like this through my shop either. I'm not too concerned about doing it to my personal vehicle. My plan was to just pull the fuses, unplug the TCS throttle motor, and disable the two dash lights when I get around to it.

QSIGUY, This is your old compatriot on the Ipod installation. I am guessing that you went through the entire diagnostic routine with the TCS and I am a bit surprised that you did'nt get to the bottom of it(hopefully so as to save me some of the time trying to figure it out). System is currently showing diagnostics of 16 and 46. Does this sound familiar? The original problem that inspired my question about the TCS was that at about the same time it failed, I noted on my consult that the air/fuel mixture ceased going very far into the rich zone on acceleration. Performance, which was rather flat, agreed with the consult. Interestingly, injector duration and duty cycle as well MAF and timing readings seem to be solidly responding to throttle pressure. So my original thinking was that this represented a failsafe condition. I am coming into agreement with Q45tech that one can expect almost one day a month of maintenance. It reminds me of the 70's when my family owned an XK-E. Almost every two months, after running great, I get a new situation to deal with(94' Q with 112K, second starting third round of replacing injectors, new knock sensor, new TPS, new injector harness & knock sensor harness, new fuel pump, new plugs, replaced oxygen sensors, replaced water pump, and lots more)

When my TCS was working I'd almost always turn it off anyway, in Phoenix we rarely have need for it. When it started acting up I just decided I would probably just disable it since I didn't want it anyway. I did get a code off it once but can't remember what it was. Since it isn't a system I am really concerned about I didn't go to much effort to fix it. I did try the common relay swap with no success but that's about as far as I took it.

I know it's unlike me to leave something broke down but I never liked the system killing my fun when I wanted to "light em up"!
