94 q 45 stalls

have a 94 q with 250 thou on it recently it wants to stall out sometimes like its not getting fuel also sometimes in the morning ill turn the key hear the pump pressuring up in back but when i go to start the car nothing for a few seconds sometimes then it finally starts any ideas are both related or seperate? thanks jim

I think you need too post this in Infiniti Mechanic Forum after searching on fuel pump, fuel filter and FPCU only if you cannot determine the answer.

Sheesh guys, give the guy a little slack.

Any of three things, I can think of.

1. Maybe a bad pump, yeah. They last 100,000 miles, give or take 40,000, so yours is probably due. Also, if you don't change it when it starts to fail, it can and will, fry the pump controller, which is more expensive than the pump. If it's whining loudly like a swarm of bees, get it replaced pronto.

2. A bad MAF can cause stalling problems. There's a procedure for cleaning it at http://www.q45.org.

3. Low transmission fluid level. It doesn't expain the hard starting, though, so probably not that. Check the level anyway. If it's low, the torque converter can lock up as you're coasting to a stop and stall the motor.
