I recently purchased a 94 pathfinder xe The catalytic converter and oxygen sensor were recently replaced, it still will not pass in CA. High HC at 25 mph. The stereo was recently installed and I am now having problems. The meter fuse top right corner controls gauges. I had the stereo reinstalled and removed the factory clarion amps and it did not solve the problem it blows the gauges fuse and battery light comes on. I thought it was the alternator so I replaced it on advice of mechanic friend and problem persisted fuse blows. The driver side door is stuck shut, and lock will not unlock, door will not open and I need to know how to open the door so I can pull and replace the inner workings. I was using vice grips to try and pull the lock to the unlocked position and actually unlocked it for one day then locked it again and stuck fast unable to repeat success. please help me! thank you.

I fixed the door. I pryed the top of the door panel up and got a visual of the inner, saw the piece of metal stuck in the latch pryed it loose with a slim shim and wahla the threaded lock stem is thrashed but oh well I removed the panel and glue repaired it. I am still blowing the meter fuse. It is not the stereo or the ac blower motor that is blowing this fuse. is anyone having the same problem, can anyone tell me the probable causes of this fuse blowing or how I should go about diagnosing this problem. I apriciate any help! Blowing fuses in San Diego.

I can make your car pass smog for flat fee of $300. (possibly more or less depending on what mood the guy is in) Smog hookup is in North County. I'm in downtown SD.

Hows it goin,I just had the cat and 02 sensor replaced and it only fails on the hc at 25 mph. I am not doing so well financially right now, ex in texas got me for 16,000 garnishments for son she mistreated for 16 years. I am going to run it again today and my fingers are crossed. I recently put in bosch platinum plugs and had the oil changed it was extremly low and very dirtyso I think it will pass today. I am also downtown corner of 4th and ash.I have been using the pass or dont pay on 11th and g downtown andthey said the cat was too small for the truck I took it back to the shop in chula vista and the mechanic stated that it was the proper cat. who's right the mechanic or the smog guy?

Cool i understand your hardships, i was simply throwing ideas out there. Illegal smog is not the long term solution anyways. Make sure the engine is HOT when you smog it. The cat is most efficient when hot. If they let your car sit for a while before testing, it will most likely fail. Dont know about the cats... is it welded in or bolted in?

Yeah, do as fueler says. Cats are most efficient when burning hot. Romp around in it pretty good before you do it I say.

If you're still failing and the cat is new and you're not throwing any CEL codes, I'd say get a second opinion on the cat size.

the state of cali does have assistance programs to help you get our car smogged if you have financial problems, all depends on how much you make.

One thing I did on my honduh to get it to pass before I replaced the broken cat on it was I replaced the O2 sensor and ran some sort of fuel additive to the tank. I passed, but just barely. Got it at Autozone or pepboys. Just look around the fuel injector cleaner aisle
