hi everyone,I think that I have a serious problem. My car is

1994 NISSAN MAXIMA GXE SEDAN 4 DR 3.0L V6 FI SOHC

I bought this car just a few weeks ago. I know the history of the car, it was my friend's old car and approximately 2 months ago car started to hesitate while starting up and also was choking while accelerating and driving in the highway.

Afterwards engine light went on on the panel and when we had checked the car, we were told that 3 of the injectors were gone. Then we bought our own (but suitable and compatible with our Nissan) injectors from web and we replaced 3 of the injectors (me and my friend). We then changed the fuel filter as well, it was a walmart product but it was new, we changed the spark plugs as well.

One of the gaskets were a little bit lousy, and at one end it was broken, using silicon we sticked it to the engine and put everything back.

Injectors seem to be working, at least engine light went off, but I still have the chocking feeling during acceleration, and even at the trafic lights during waiting in the red signal the car does the back and fort movement (or i think it is called jerking). Even worse than this one just a few days ago a terrible gasoline smell started to come out. Even inside the car, it smells gasoline horribly.

Because of the reason that my car is 1994, its OBD doesn't match with the error code reading machines in auto zone or somewhere else. I cannot also read error codes, I don't want to go to the mechanic now, because I think I can fix the problem.

I need your help! What do you think about the situation? I hope you will share your ideas about the situation.

Thank you very much in advance for your time.

Here's a list of all the error codes for our OBDI Maximas:zerothread?id=126534

It sounds to me like you either didn't replace all the bad injectors, replaced the wrong injectors, or installed one (or more) of the new ones incorrectly and they're now leaking. If the gasoline smell got worse after you changed the injectors out, I'd say one of the new ones is to blame (potentially the one with the torn gasket).

I would test them all, to be sure. You can do this by systemic elimination (cut power to them individually by unplugging one at a time while the engine is running). You know the injector is GOOD if the engine skips or misses or bogs when you unplug it. If the engine is NOT affected by a particular injector being unplugged, there's a good chance it's bad.

You can also try simply removing the spark plugs (remember which went where). With a strong fuel smell like you're describing, you may well find your culprit that way. If a plug is soaked in fuel, you know that injector is leaking or acting up.

Finally, you can test the injectors by checking the resistance with an ohmmeter or multimeter. They should come in between 10 and 14 ohms.

Also, for more info, look to pages 150 and 151 here.
