Hello,
I am a 300zx newbie. I am looking for a fun sporty convertible for the wife and I. I am on a limited budget so I know I can't afford the best. I have found a 94 300zx na 5sp convertible with 180k miles. The car has passed hands 3 times in the past 2 years and does not have maintenance receipts. I am told it has had it's timing belt/water pump changed and has a new clutch. The car is quite clean inside and out and has never been wrecked. Engine bay is clean and stock with no oil leaks. price is firm at $5k
Is this too many miles and I'm just asking for trouble? Does this price sound right? anything else I need to be worried about?

Thank In Advance!!

I'm a newbie as well, but I might be a able to help.
I bought mine for 3500$, NA T-top with a 175K miles, no receipts as well. One thing to keep in mind, you're in for a lot of maintenance.
So you'll have to compromise between paying for the right car or repairing the right car.

I'd say 5K with no receipts is a lot, most ones I've seen with more than 150K mile were in 3000-4000$ range.

No receipts is scary, but nothing else really jumps out as a red flag. Got a link?

I'm with Ace but a bit more cautious, I myself would make SURE it got a thorough inspection from a Z mechanic who can try to verify the claims, and check a few other things to ensure value. All of the engine seals and many connectors and the engine wiring harnesses are at high risk in the 180K range, and the repair costs are pretty high so paying top dollar for a known maintenance range issue isn't the best value under any circumstances.
I also agree with Black93Z that $5K firm is pretty high for the miles and no receipts, it better pass inspection with FLYING colors before I even consider that amount. To me it's $4300 tops, and only if with great paint and excellent interior. That way it's worth the hassle of the impending maintenance costs and time down.
