I JUST bought a '94 Maxima with 100K miles. The previous owner is a friend and says the cruise control worked. First trip I pushed the "ON" button on the dash, then tried the steering wheel controls. The ON button lights up, and there's also a light on the dash display near the speedo. The dash light blinks or flashes. Would this rapid flashing/blinking be any clue or indication of what the problem is?

My friend just cleaned the engine compartment too. Any possibility this would cause an issue? The vacuum line appears to be connected on the little vacuum pod., and the wires are also connected there.

i'm no electrical expert, but my guess is he got H20 down in the connection, or moisture in the fuse box under the hood. him, jk!

Another pretty common electrical issue with the 3rd gen. There's a common resolder fix that might solve your problem.

thanks for the link. they seem to suggest checking cables then the PCB board. they are not specific about what to check on the PC board, I guess just a loose or bad connection somewhere. I'll check the electrical connections too.

Look for yellow/brown shiny spots (indicative of heat damage) or loose/poor solder joints on the PCB.

Another possible cause is the actuator itself.

I hope I just found the simple fix.... loose connection (broken clasp on wire harness). nuthin a little duct tape won't fix!

i can't test drive it until monday night...waiting for driveaxle and window regulator to arrive.
