Hello All,

I bought a used 94 Maxima for my kids, only 102K miles, engine in great shape. The bad news, the interior fan will not turn off, regardless which switch (auto/manual) is selected or the speed. The fan speed does change from low to high and the heater seems to warm up OK, but there isn't an off setting. Any suggestions?

Thanks, John

Since you mention "auto" mode I'm assuming the car has digital climate control? Does it look like this?http://imagehost.vendio.com/a/...G.jpg

Yes, that looks like the controls for the blower, the display has a fan that goes from 1 - 4 blades based on the speed. The off doesn't work, it always blows air.

Sounds like the controller is bad. Your best bet is probably to disconnect it. The dash is pretty easy to open up. Once in there, you should be able to disconnect the HVAC controller. If that doesn't stop the fan, you probably have a bad blower motor controller. If it DOES stop the can, you should just need to order a replacement unit. You can probably replace it with a manual unit if you want to save some cash.
