So this is the car. 1994 Vert. 1994ka24de had a blown head gasket. swapped it out. put in a 1997 ka24de. swapped out the transmission: auto to 5sp. All lights and signals work. The car has swapped manifolds and all lines are hooked up. Im running 370cc injectors a standard 94 MAFS. (ive been told that will cause it to not hold an idle. So do i need to swap a z32maf to fix prob.) Anyhow The car runs, but only when your foot is on the gas. Then when you take your foot off it dies hard!!!!! It is due to not having it tuned? Or do i need to swap ecu due to the 97 ka or the 5sp swap. I dont have a AFC on it. So would that help fix the problem. Lastly the turbo when its running sprays out a black watery mist. Its not oil from what i can tell because oill smears and this doesnt realy. I know its alot of question but i really want this thing running right. So any help is appreciated.

here is a link to my car:

if you look behind the turbo you'll see the black mist area on the fire wall.

This is the setup:

You need to have your car tuned for larger injectors and mafs. Think it's the n60 mafs and 370cc injectors that should make it driveable. You need to get an SAFC to make it idle and run right. Where is the mist from the turbo coming from? Is it an oil and water cooled turbo or oil only?

coming out of the exhaust part of the turbo. no leaks on the feed line or return line. i dont know if you can see it in the pic for the link i posted on there. its on the fire wall drivers side. do you have an n60 lying around you would want to part with? And its oil only on the turbo

Your just running super rich, all you need is a tuning system and a wideband and u'll be fine. Or like said above a n60 maf. They are cheap, find one on ebay for like 50-60 bucks shipped.

So you just droped bigger injectors in and hoped they would work huh?

Oh btw the black stuff coming out of your turbo is unburnt fuel.

Also, for that turbo 370cc injectors are definitely on the small side, you should have put in 550's.

so i got a n60maf coming and what size injectors would you recommend. 550 or 700's. Also what kind of SAFC would you recommend. I dont know much about widebands. or ecu tuning any suggestions or do you think the prob will be fixed with a safc and a larger maf and injectors?

Well since this is your first turbod car i would say just go with a ECU tune, so you dont have to worry about tuning it yourself. Check out Enthalpy, or JWT, or even Emance, the ebay guy. His stuff has been proven to work and its pretty damned cheap.

its not my first turboed car i've built. this is the 3rd but the first one going from NA to turbo. Ive owned turbo'd cars before and swapped engines and done a little tweaking to another turbo engine going into it. i did my 300zx TT and that was a *****. But it wasnt far from a plug and play. just had an electrical issue with that when i was done putting in the engine. It had something to do with the egr. Ive owned a miata turbo'd not by me but everything was there when i swapped engines and had to put it all on the new engine. This car here was just bone stock and i think yes your right i should just go with a standard tune on it. But do i have to send them my ecu? With the z i did that and got a ecu back from ASH-SPEC in florida and it was fit with the injectors and map and etc, tuned for my car. would JWT do something like that as well. I would like to get this right and just looking for all the right answers. NICO has been a huge help so far. Thanks to everyone I hope to have pics up or more results to you guys. Ill let you know when the parts come in if they helped at all.

Got a dyno close to you or know someone with a wideband? For 8psi you can sneak away with 370cc.... get a safc 1 or 2 doesn't matter. 2 has knock sensor reading which is pointless off factory sensor.
