Greetings all;I am planning on replacing the turbine sensor. Does transmission had to be dropped?Has any one had an experience replacing one of this?

Thanks in advance.

Is the turbine sensor the same as the transmission revolution sensor?

From looks of it (ALDATA) the procedure is the same. Turbine sensor is on top of transmission. I can't say if it is the same, I've never looked at it on J30!I am sure you would have to lover engine/suspension cradle to get access to it. If you are not equipped for such repair let a good INFINITI-ORIENTED mechanic do it. Cheers!

Just replaced the turbine sensor on my 94 J30t.

Took about 15 mins from start to finish. I am not too sure as to why Inifiniti

dealers need to drop transmission for this... I was able to remove and replace.

Yes it was. The difficult part of the job was routing the wire.

It was a turbine sensor. Here is the part number ( INF 31935-51X60 SENSOR ASSY-TURBINE)

There is a revolution sensor (rear of transmission) and turbine revolution sensor (top of transmission where bellhousing meets transm body) .What shape was the sensor?Quote »1995 Infiniti J30 V6-2960cc 3.0L DOHC (VG30DE) Vehicle Level Transmission and Drivetrain Sensors and Switches - Transmission and Drivetrain Sensors and Switches - A/T Transmission Speed Sensor Information Hide Details Testing and Inspection • Revolution Sensor • Turbine Revolution Sensor Parts and Labor • Replace Specifications • Revolution Sensor • Turbine Revolution Sensor © 2006 ALLDATA LLC. Let me tell you it was not 15 min job Cheers! P.S (2) Look on the attached picture that is turbine revolution sensor

Yes, it was the turbine revolution sensor located on top of the tramsmission where bellhousing meets the transmission body.

Yes, it is the one that shows in the picture that "FarFetched" posted

And yes, it took me about 15 mins to pull out the sensor and replace. I wan't including the time from jacking up the car... but if I may, from jacking up the car to clean-up, it's more like 45 mins. Sorry for the time(duration) confusion.

But for sure, this job does not require you to drop sup/cradle or the transmission on 94 J30t.

Cheers~~

Then I migh ask, why I had to lower cradle when I did R+R on J30. I didn't have to lower as far as on Q45 but I needed some clearance to get it out. Next time I am doing J30 I will try it w/o extra time Cheers!

Farfetched,

I was planning on doing the susp/cradle drop just like you did.But when I disconnected the harness and unbolted two bolts it came right out. I was very surprised too

If you have to replace another one next time, just try it... you will be surprised as well...

Cheers
