Hello,

I have a '94 J30. For the last a few months, the right lights of the car (low beams and high beams) don't work as they are expected to work. One minute them work, another minute they dont. I checked if they were loosened, but they are not. They work when they want to work. If I take the car to a mechanic, I don't think that they can fix it (this is what I think). The problem looks electronical. Does anyone have an idea?It will be great help. Because it is very difficult to drive in the dark without right side of the lights. Thanks

Check your headlight relay. Might do a search on those two words to see if it could be the problem based on previous posts.

Its most likely the relay which is located in the left hand corner closest to where the steering wheels is...its right behind one of the pumps...you should be able to find it. Go to http://www.infinitipartsusa.com and i think they have a relay on there...its about $40 bucks.

Expertie I got the relay too and figured out how to install it. Its not too bad. The relay is on the driver side of the engine compartment just behing the wheel well. You can't get to it because of some control module with cables that is mounted infront of it. This module is mounted with three 12mm nuts that you will find if you look up behing the left front tire into the wheel well. A box wrench is all you need to unscrew them. Once these bolts are removed, you can gently pull up on the control module and get enough clearance to get to the screw holding the headlight relay with a socket wrench. You then release the two plugs that feed into the bottom of the relay by pressing the release on the engine side of the plug and pulling. Once I figured out how to do it, the job took about 15 minutes. I hope the headlights stop flickering now! Will advise once I have driven it at night a bit.

I have a job at the parking services:) I found somebody to change it for me. At the first look, it seems working. To check it during the day is also easy. When the passenger side is not working, the bluelight on the next to the odometer for high beamlights is not working either. So, you can turn your high beamlights during the day and check if that bluelight is working or not.

The flickering light is a famous gremlin on pre 95 Js. Later models were fitted with the replacement unit that you have obtained. No probs on mine so far. Different part number than the original OEM unit.
