1994 J30 , this is my GFs car so I will describe as best as possible from what I know.

When she purchased the car the stereo (yes it is a Bose w/CD) would intermittently make a static (like station interference sound) sound only on FM stations, knowing this stereo has issues I suggested that she listen only to AM stations or the CD (of course this did not go over too well) , yesterday when she started the car the stereo never came on (no power antenna - nothing) today I looked at the "audio" fuse and it is fine. I have never seen a stereo just die like that , just want to make sure this is also a common problem as I am going to send the stereo in for repair if it is. Thanks!

Does the unit seem to even power on?

Have you attempted to pull the unit to check the connewctions on the back? (try http://www.carstereohelp.com for steps)

The static issue was only on FM? Does it have an FM modulated CD player?

Lots of unknowns, but low heat electronics rarely just die.

THe unit does not power on at all , completely dead. I am goiong to pull it this weekend to check out the connections , but I agree that I never heard of a car stereo just going dead like that. Thats why I posted here. The static is only on FM stations.
