I have a 1994 Infiniti Q45. It has the factory bose stereo in it with the cd changer controls. The trunk has the cd changer wire sitting back there ready to plug into. The only question is what brand of cd changer will work? Every time I look in audio stores, or online, and I tell them what car I have, they say I will most likely need a $80-$100 adapter to cross over the factory to aftermarket. Do I really need this, or can I get away with just the cd changer? Anybody have a clue? Thanks!

The Scosche adapter can actually be found for about $40 or so.

Wes has directed you to the correct unit (Clarion model # CV737) as shown on e-bay. I've also been looking into getting a new unit since the unit I inherited when I bought the car is controlled through a wired remote placed between the front seats. I know from reading previous posts that Joe (see Wes's signature) has the CD player and the OEM mounting kit (it plugs in and mounts in the trunk below the antenna) for about $175. I've shopped around and this is a good price.

Don't forget about swapping a later model Nissan/Infiniti Bose In Dash CD unit in palce of your current one. I think it's a better option.

I personally dont like the in dash CD changers..... Ive used them in our other cars and I find myself fumbling with the buttons and fighting the system more than I am listening to music, much less driving.. The Q one is so much better.....

Is any later model double din infinity bose cd player a plug and play installation. I am looking to add cds to my sytem as the sony 10 disc in the trunk is broken, but I'll do whichever of these two options is cheaper, because I don't care about tapes

Thanks

Only with nissan/infinit bose.... Not sure about other models, but nissan, mazda, and acura bose are nearly all the same..... But any nissan infiniti bose double DIN will work..

if its a 95 and later and your car is a pre 94, youll need to get an adapter from joe that is about $5

Don't know for sure yet, I've been looking for a CD changer to test this. Maybe if I ever make it to a meet again, we can swap Wes' over to my car to see if it will work. But since the HU I'm using is from a 99 Pathfinder and that CD changer is supposed to work

My 1994 Q 45 bose came with a sony 10 disc cd changer that was controlled through the factory head unit. are the sony 10 disc cd changer and the clarion CV737 interchangable?

Does it matter if the Clarion CV737 comes from a bose vehicle or not? I found one that has been taken from a 1999 Primera that says "Model No. PN-2144F Nissan part No.28184 2FO15" ( this seller does not mention bose and it is a 2144F instead of a 2144U

while the link wes posted says "Clarion part number CV737 on the CD Changer and part number CAA-355 on the 6 Disc magazine. Nissan part number 2144U"

Yes, they both use the saem 14 pin (I think it's 14) connector on the right hand side of the trunk. You should be able to find the conx, by pulling the trim piece off like you're trying to get at the antenna. There's a mounting location here as well.

Wes mentioned only the Clarion, casue he doesn't like the Sony. He thinks it's junk.

"if its a 95 and later and your car is a pre 94, youll need to get an adapter from joe that is about $5"

Thanks for this info! I would have freaked out a little after spending a chunk of cash and finding two different styles of plugs...

94 connectors http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...sting

05 connectors http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...%3AIT

It would be pretty sick to add factory head unit controlled SAT radio to a 1994 car, I'm not sure how much this would cost though.

I'm sure the sony is junk, I know mine is. So I am guessing that it doesn't matter if the Clarion CV737 comes from a bose vehicle or not, as long as it uses the same connector?

Thanks again for your help everyone. My fiance is driving the Q right now and I'm trying to get the CDs playing again by XMAS

I can't say for sure, but would have my doubts, as the PN is slightly different and the Primera was never brought to the US as such.

I'm not sure either, but I think a primera is basically a sentra or g20??

I called Joe and he doesn't have any adapters to use 95+ bose HU on <=94 Bose HU cars. Couldn't find anything on google. I found this on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW

Not sure if this would work on double din bose, but if anyone knows how to wire it, I would rather solder up my own connector.

TIA Shea

That connector is the one that allows you to put the later Nis/Inf Bose CD HU in an earlier Q.

are you sure it's junk? I am on my 4th changer and it seems to be working now.

Now if I could only replace the antenna since the nylon strap broke off inside.....

Can you help me figure out how to wire an adapter myself, so I don't have to pay $23? Did you wire yours yourself or buy an adapter to put in your 1999 pathfinder HU.

That ebay ad said it was for single din 300zx, are the connectors different from single to double din? And are they diff from bose to non bose?

TIA

I bought that adapter from that guy, but Jesda has found the Nissan PN and it's like $12.

Have I linked the threads yet?

Crap search is down right now .

I did some manual searching ...

Here's the parthttp://www.courtesyparts.com/M...DIO-H

And here's my original threadhttp://forums.nicoclub.com/zer...ber=1

I have played burned CD's in it, but not all burned ones.

Hope this helps.

I'd really like the in dash, but hope to one day find a trunk mount to attach to it.

Keep in mind that if you find an in dash with the DNR button on the lower right hand corner I've been told that will directly plug into our car, not harness required.
