94 Infiniti Does not Rev beyond 2000rpm, cuts out after 3-4 mins of idling, HELP

I recently bought a 1994 Infiniti Q45 with 156k Miles. Changed spark plugs. Car starts alright but hesitates to move. Rev does not exceed 2000 rpm. Would drive and suddenly will not accelerate (stalls). Would appreciate if anyone has come across such a problem before. Nothing on the dash is abnormal. The gears all shift perfectly. I have changed the spark plugs and the fuel filter with no improvement. I am guessing it could be the fuel pump but before delving into this, which may or may not be the problem, thought I should seek for suggestions from this noble forum.Thanks so much for your time.

Test your Mass Air Flow meter and compare it to specs. You can find/download a Q45 FSM by going to Google.
