I just came across a Renault 4cyl turbo-diesel engine out fo a small RV and i'm planning on swappin it in the HB. Getting the engine to run wont be hard since its all mechanical for teh most part(injection, etc). My concern will be the HB wiring. If its possible, i want to use the 5-speed thats in the truck. So i want to use the factory speedo, and possibly the temp gauge too. So the only gauge i'll have to get is a tach. Do i need the HB ecu for those? And what is the hp rating for the KA that is in there right now? The tag on the renault says its rated for 75@3750rpm. also, if anyone would like to help a feller out, i've been searchin for some additional info/specs on the renault without much luck. so if you find yourself bored. . . . . Thanks

I'd be surprised if the bellhousing lines up.

I never expected them to. I figured i'll make a adapter plate out of 1/2" aluminum.

well, the dash isn't ECU controlled. You will be ok there, and remember theres only 7-8 wires needed to be spliced into ANY vehicles harness to make an ECU function. Any idea where this engine originated from? peace.

It is a Renault(Douvrin) engine. So its a european engine. It also has an aluminum block. Aluminum head to i think. so it should be considerably lighter than the KA. So i dont need the ECU for the factory speedo?(that is if i can use the nissan transmission.) does the ECu have any control over the fuel pump? i was hoping to still keep the original pump as a lift pump from the tank to the injection pump.
