After searching thru all the forum archive post I finally saw the FSM links on your signature. That is sweet. I have them saved to my desktop and went thru them as much as possible.
Here the thing - No matter how much I try I just do not understand electrical. Its just mind boggling that I cannot wrap my head around it. Im a technical person but the electrical is just a foriegn language to me. I finally have decided to take it to a shop in the morning (which I really cannot afford)
I change/checked every fuse, fusible link and wiring harness I could find. I checked the starter and alternator grounds and they seem fine. I put a new battery in and went to the salvage yard and got about 40 relays and fus and swapped out most of them. After doing that now the car is getting hot. The temp gauge is peaking out so I made something worse and possibly swithed something out with a bad relay. Any ideas? I think the fans are coming on. Which one isthe main fan fuse.
This is what I am handing the repair shop:* 10A ignition fuse is blowing when I turn the key to the 2nd ON position. * Speedometer at tachometer is not working
I am keeping the battey fuse out while its sitting and the clip off the positive battery terminal so it doesnt run down (I dont know if it will but I dont want to chance it) Everything else works in the car. Something is shorting out somewhere and I put 15 hours into trying to fix this.
I love the car, 94' G20 in great shape with 150K that runs great when it runs and cannot wait to have it on the road. It does have an alarm but I cannot find it. There are 2 silver power looking boxes mounted in the trunk maybe thats the power for the alarm?
Anyway, nametakennow - thanks for the links and suggestions. Its to bad this BB doesnt have more activity. My previous car was a 86' BMW 535i and I lived on the BMW forums and there was a lot of talk and support to newbies, even if we ask repeat and/or stupid questions.
Cheers - Glennbo
