I need help. I purchased a 1994 engine and put it in my 1991 car. It also has the original wiring harness that was in the 1991. I still have the 1991 trans also. I dropped it in the car and all the connections hook up perfectly accept 2 plugs located at the rear of the engine. one is black 2 prong and the other brown 2 prong. after doing some research I noticed 2 vacumm type assemblies located on the back of a 1991 engine that those wires go to. But on the 94 those to boxes are not required. Can I leave those 2 plugs unplugged or do I need to put jumpers on each to complete the circuit. There was one plug on the engine that doesnt have a hook up though. It is in between the two intake runners at the rear of the engine and I dont know what it goes to. help me out if you can.

I believe they were all emmision's type things, and unless that is a concern, you should be fine. DO NOT, use jumpers as there needs to be some load on the circut. You can burn up the circut/fry your ecu if you do that. Leave all three unplugged and see if it starts. If it does, drive it for a half hour or so, and then see if you ecu throws any codes.

one of the connectors is for the swirl control valve which controls the secondary butterfly's in the intake mani for the 91. the 94 does not have secondaries or swirl control valve so its not needed.

You sure it's not the knock sensor?

The knock sensor is located under the intake between #2 and #3 intake tubes.
