Does anyone know if a 94 ecm will work in a 92? I need a ecm for my 92 Q45 and a junk yard in my area has a 94.

Thanks Dana

It is not just years but whether Active and TCS is matched.
94 may also have additional sensor than are not found on 92.

Define work, as in work as designed or just crank and kinds run ok with warning lights?

The one I can get is the same for my car I have just traction control. I bought a chip and had a tv repair guy put it in and now the car will start up and run but will not revv up the check engine light is on and it will not flash a code. I removed the chip put a socket in and the guy sent me another chip and it is doing the same thing it ran fine befor I put the chip in(lesson leared if it runs ok then leave it alone the 30 extra hp was not worth it) I can get a 94 computer for about $45.00 I just want to know if anyone knows if it will work.

Thanks Dana

Like I said the 1994 was meant to work with the same 1994 Transmission Control Unit. I mean it will work but it won't be a perfect match.

If you put a non Traction Control System ECU in a non TCS car then TCS will not work, but no damage will be done to anything.

And like I said E-Mance is not to be trusted I had a bad experience with him before. Is the damage done to the ECU or can you remove the chip and send both back to the seller for you money back? If you paid with Pay Pal with in 30 days then file a claim stating both chips would not function correctly. Get it in writing that that TV guy installed it properly and even get a second written opinion if needed. Email that info to Pay Pal and you should be able to get your money back. Don't give up!

I only payed $35.00 for the chip the tv guy charged me $100 to put it in. I removed the old chip and soldered in a socket and I pluged in the new chip and it is doing the same thing. I think that the damage was caused by the guy who put the other chip in. If I knew a guy who fixes electronics was going to damage the board I would have just done myself the first time. I may send it out to Shane and have him fix it, but fo now I want to get a ecm to get it on the road, and I can get a ecu in the morning at a junk yard. When I called to see if they had one he said it was for a car without active suspension front wheel steer and traction that is what my car has. guess for $45.00 I can gamble and if it does not work put it on ebay and maby break even.

Well only once from Q45Tech have I heard of a bad ECU. Chances are great that the new one will work just fine.

I did some more digging on this sight and found that the 90-95 ecms are all interchangeable and as long as the options match that the 94 ecu I will get tomorrow will work.

Thanks Dana

Dana, Sorry I missed your phone call today. Just as you determined, it should be fine as long as the TCS, active suspension, and CA or Fed emissions match your car. Even if they don't you will most likely just get a code or a CEL regarding that feature but it should run fine.

Let me know if you need to send in that ECU, I should be able to get it working.

Shane I will send that ecu out to you at some point I just want to get the car on the road I have had the car for a year and spent the time doing the timing chain tensiones plenum rebuild and had a exhaust system put in I only payed 300 for the car and I am going to use it as a extra car for my shop. I thought tat a little more HP would be nice but at this point I just want it to run right.

Thanks Dana

Did you pick up the 94 ECU today? Did it do the trick? Another thing you may need to make sure of is that your harness is getting plugged in fully. If any of the pins aren't seated fully you could have issues. I've had that happen a few times with my car after swapping out the ECU.

I picked up 2 ecms yesterday when I went to the junkyard the guy said the the ecm came out of a car with active suspension I bought it anyway and I went to another junkyard one that is a you pay $2.00 and pick your own parts they have like no inventory control. That one came out of a car with rear wheel steeing no active suspension. I have not put the ecm in yet the car is at my shop and I am not going there untill Tuesday. I will ask witch ecm would be the better one to put in, and if my other ecm can't be fixed can the other ecm be chipped to give more power and have the options my car has fed emissions, trac, fws, no active suspension?

Thanks Dana

I would go with either as none of the ones you have will trip the Check Engine Light. The ECU's may expect input (From the Active Suspension Control Unit and the HICAS Control Unit) and output some of there readings (RPM's, Speed...) but you will be fine.

Nice find!

You should go back there and get as many parts from those Q that will fit your car at that price, I bought a shelf from Costco and I will get some apple boxes from grocery stores to store the parts. You should do the same because you will need the parts you don't have.

one of the ecus cost me $45.00 and the one I got from the pull-a-part place with the evap canister cost me $52.00 + the $2.00 yard fee. I figured that if one worked better than the other then i could just sell the othe fro what I payed for it on ebay, or just keep it as a spare.

I put one of the ecms in today and the runs good and no check engine light. I haven't driven it yet ran out of time and I want to put the 93 trans ecu in it first.
