looking to find egr valve for 94 maxima california emmisions. don't know to much about car exwifes! she took it to a shop they said that is what she needed but they dont make them anymore and she cant find it. anyway to reroute it? thanks for anyhelp

You may try http://www.car-part.com. That would be the best place to get a used one that I know of.

You can pull them off and put a block plate on the intake and exhaust but I wouldn't recommend it personally. If you get it running properly you should actually see some fuel economy come back if its not working properly. Also, if you have any sort of emissions testing removing it could be a very bad idea as it could fail the test (though if its not currently working it should fail anyway).

As far as bypassing it, if its not constantly leaking you could just plug the vacuum line keeping it from opening at all. You can also just remove it and put a block plate on the intake and plug the exhaust port for it as well.

I would test the EGR before replacing it, a lot of times the vac lines deteriorate overtime causing vac to leak and your EGR not to open. Once you are sure it is bad then replace it. Here is the link to where you can buy it in Cali.
