My 1994 Nissan Altima won't start. The engine cranks well, it first didn't start when it was really cold outside. I got it to start when it warmed up, but now it won't start again. I already replaced fuel filter, engine coolant temperature sensor, distributor cap & rotor. I checked the spark from coil, jumped .5". Also saw spark from each spark plug when I pulled them out. After I cranked engine, I pulled each spark plug and they were wet with gas.

What should I try next?

I'm not sure how old it is, but it seems to turn the engine over well. I have tried to jump start it several times, and that doesn't help.

Thanks.

Maybe it's flooded. What happens if you push the gas pedal all the way down and crank it?

It might also be one of your sensors. Is the check engine light on?Do you know how to Check your codes?

it could be the CPS (crankshaft position sensor) or ECTS (Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor.)

I thought it might be flooded, so last night I removed the spark plug to let the gas evaporate. I will see if that works later today. I didn't know about holding down the gas pedal and cranking the engine, but I will try that as well. I already replaced the ECTS, and I read if the CPS is bad there will be no spark, but I've seen the spark plugs spark.

Thanks for your help.

you may have intemittent/misplaced spark. U13 are infamous for leaky distributor. look UNDER the dust cover which is under the rotor for signs of oil tracking.

see thread below from Novemberish. i think it was jackblue.

Thanks that was it.

I opened up the distributor and there was a lot of oil. I cleaned out the oil and it started right up. Now I just need to replace the distributor.

good work. temptation will have you run down to your local parts monkey and take whatever he has.

once again: non-OEM at your own peril. genuine nissan remanned is probably less than you think from one of our sponsors.
