An active customer (a 91Q45a) has a bad transmission--will a 94-96 transmission drop in? Does the TCU also have to be changed?

Yes….but the car will be slower in acceleration. Former NICO member 1992Q45a (Stillen Special Q) has a 94-96 transmission in his 1992 Q45. There are several members including myself with the opposite….90-93 transmission in their 94-95 Q45. I have used both a 93 & my original 95 TCU with the 90-93 transmission with no problem thus far.

Jamesmost, how ya doing?

the madness has got to stop on my speed mods and if I had to do it over again I probably would have done the SC in the first place versus all these other mods, but I am happy with what I have created....

I have reached a point where I am comfortable with the speed capabilities of the car knowing that the car can now hold its own very nicely on the freeway when I am running a 14.25@100mph 1/4 ET's. Now I am focusing on some new wheels and maybe a paint job to bring the looks of the car up to par with its performance and running capabilities so it is more pleasing to the eye driving around town. The car has a cool 150K miles on it and I don't want to stress the engine too much beyond that even though there is nothing wrong with it I would like to see an additional strong & trouble free 50K miles out of the car after dropping in over $15,000 last year in mods and maintenance. Besides...I am about to purchase (within next 4 months) my new car which will be a convertible and then the Q will have to step aside as my second choice car to be used sparingly when I have a need to transport more 3 or more people or on a rainy day.

btw...I raced my first 90-93 Q45 the other day. The poor guy had no idea what he was getting himself into wanting to race me. I left him in the dust from about 70 to 110.....then slowed up to give each other a friendly wave.
