the previous owner had replaced the head gasket back in October but when i check the spark plugs the 2nd spark plug got oil in it. it seems odd because the engine seems to be in good condition (129,xxx miles) have anyone of you guys had this problem? would it be a difficult or easy problem to fix?

check for common oil leaks as mentioned such as the valve cover gasket.

If there is heavy deposits of oil on that plug than might I suggest to do a compression test or a leak down test to see if you have excess blow by either through the rings or the valves (stem seals, etc).

And check to make sure your PCV valve is working. That clogging up can pressurize the crank case and could be pushing oil through the weakest area of your motor (in this case into cylinder #2)

This happened to me when I replaced my valve cover gasket as well.

There is a gasket with four rings that goes around the holes for the spark plugs.

Take your valve cover off and make sure those are all in the right place.

Sometimes they get pushed out of place when you reinstall the valve cover.

Hope this helps.

I would try this first...seems to be a common thing if you don't be careful when reinstalling your valve cover.

It would be cheaper to buy a tool that can get it out than taking it to a shop.

I'm sure whatever store you buy your tools out can help you get the right tool.

That tool have saved me hours over the past five years of working on my car.

sign... stupid me i brought it to the mechanic and they found out that valve cover was spilling oil into the spark plug and covered the spark plug nut so i had thought that the previous own messed up and somehow loosen the nut off.

WELL, the good part is i did my homework and search the forum and got 4 NGK Iridium spark plugs ($7.00 a piece) and got a private mechanic to install a new valve cover and spark plugs for $65.00 bucks!!

i know i could've done it myself but i was short on tools and also never done a valve cover job before so i'd learned alot from watching him do it! YA!!
