top metal retainer between cam sprockets broke! I removed the covers and found it laying on top of the chain. its a metal L-shaped bracket with two bolt holes in it. I've had this car for 6 years with no problems besides having to replace the transmission three years ago and normal interior stuff. Any recommendations on this? All of the local cars I've found have been decapitated all ready!

You need to remove it.

These end up causing rattling noise due to chain slap, then breaking and dropping into the motor and potentially causing damage.
Nissan later sent out a notice telling people to remove this.
