I just got my vh45 out of the car yesterday. What a PITA! I removed the universe so I could just pull the engine but the alignment dowel on the block was seized to the transmission so they both came out. I pulled off the timing cover this morning and found metal-back timing chain guides. The production date is 11/92. I hope this helps someone worrying about their guides. When the car was running, I was about to buy the whole replacement package and get dirty.

Also, the two bolts midway up on either side of the transmission are ALMOST impossible to get to. I ended up going through the firewall to get them. Which, in doing so found out why these cars are so heavy. I had to go through carpet, padding, sound-proofing, padding, steal, thick foam, steal. Nothing a stepped bit and Sawz-all can't take care of.

I'd post pics but, if you've seen one, you've seen them all.

Very good. Did it have the original light blue RTV or was there some other stuff?

Most people get those transmission bolts with like 4 foot extensions.
