I am a novice but somewhat mechanically enclined. So if I cannot get my automatic transmission problems worked out I will be looking to swap out my transmission for a manual one. A friend here is what I am looking for, so if you're experiences with a swap and can help me I would greatly appreciate it. I have a 93 vert and want to know what year 5 speed to buy and what works best. I assume everyone who does the swap buys aftermarket parts like a new clutch and throwout bearing, etc. What parts work bests and where do you get them? There are a few 240SX's in local bone yards so if it is more cost effective I will buy the parts from one of them. Thanks for your time and input. Matt

Personaly I love my 240, its a rare type of car since it is RWD, even rarer to have a 5 speed vert and not only that right now is probably going to be realy great to have one if you like customizing because ever since FFTD came out in movie theaters the racing companies they started making more parts for the 240, infact over a week I saw the parts listed for a 240 went from 2000 to 7900 on ebay. They are even starting to sell crate engines. Well anyway the swap isn't all that bad. I woundn't do it by myself and I wouldn't try to get it done in one day. I took 3 days to do the swap mainly because I took my time and didn't rush. Not only that its a heck of alot cheaper than putting the fat old auto back in (to give you an idea of what I think of the auto, first thing I did after the swap was I atached it to the back of my car and draged that SOB around the block!). You can do it man, the most experience my friend and I had was an exhaust system. At least put it this way if your going to sell it you wont get much since I bought mine for 3000 and that was with a running automatic and milelege. If you did or had someone do the swap you'd be able to sell it for much more, I mean how often do you see a manual 240 vert? But if you love your car like I do, then fix it and free its spirit! I gues you can say its alot like a relationship and right now is when she needs you most. Sorry for the long comment but if you want to ask questions my email is [email protected].
