93 transmission --> 89 240? need ecu?

Hi, i'm plannin on doing a manual conversion from my auto to manual using a 93 transmission. I'm wondering would i need a 91 and manual ecu or i can get by with my 89 auto ecu and just change some wires to turn off that auto lock.

I was told you can do without it, but I would advise otherwise. They had different ecu's for a reason. I'm sure someone has one you can get cheap, if you're gonna do it, do it right.

im not sure about the 89-90 car and 91+ transmission, but if u use the trannies for the same motor, u dont need a diff ecu
