Good going on the chain guides! I think (do you have the Infiniti Dealer Service records?) you may have the first documented late model 1993 to have the new guides.pjq45 wrote:I thing I found wrong is the distributor is leaking oil. It's leaking a good amount.
Which is just ridiculous... 280 ft/lbs!! For those of you keeping track at home... I could put a 1 ft bar on the bolt. Then STAND on the bar, and still be well short of the torque required.GQ Jay wrote:---also don't forget to put the full 280+ lb-ft of torq on your crankshaft bolt......
I have seen these also with metal-backed chain guides as early as 8/92. Most time after June, July, or August of any year like 8/92 would be considered a 93 anyway! I have taken apart 2/92 and they have had the plastic backed guides.pjq45 wrote:I took my Q apart today. I found metal-backed guides in it. I was glad. And everything looked nice in side. It looked like it's never been a part before. The RTV silicone was baby blue. So I put the car back togeter. I thing I found wrong is the distributor is leaking oil. It's leaking a good amount.JN

I distinctly remember another instance from a member's trip to T3... but I can't remember his name? Anyhow, it's got to be a welcome sight to pull the cover and only need to reseal it! Thanks again pjq45 for posting your VIN and letting us know.maxnix wrote:you may have the first documented late model 1993 to have the new guides.
I remember it was speculated then that the engines with the new guides were installed not in sequence as an upgrade, but just shuffled in with engines with the old guides until the engines old guides were gone. Hence, no known cut off date or VIN.Q451990 wrote:I distinctly remember another instance from a member's trip to T3... but I can't remember his name?
