This morning, I started my car and the idle was stuttering. It's done this before, but within a minute, the idle would be fine. Today, it never became normal. I drove to work (4-1/2 miles) and there was some loss of power and stuttering.
When I got to work, I opened the hood and started taking off spark plug wires one at a time. When I took off the wire on plug #1, there was no change. The wire was sparking (touched it to a metal part of the engine), but the cylinder obviously wasn't firing. The plugs are brand new NKG's. The wires are brand new, and so it the rotor and dist. cap. The car has 81,000 miles. I'm at a loss. Could my injector be the problem?
Additional info: During a break, I started the car up and did the "screwdriver" test on injector #1. It wasn't "ticking" like the other 3. So can I assume that my injector is probably either plugged up or shot, or not getting the electrical signal?
Thanks for any help!-Tom in Scranton, PA
