Current image of my car.

I bought this in 2006 for $1000 as a clean automatic car with a blown engine. Blown as in the head was warped .040"
Then after I got a new head and drove the car for the first time the auto trans slipped like crazy and it sat for a while. in 2008 I ordered a s13 blacktop sr20 and a ton of brand name parts to make it run. I drove the new very clean sr for a day and it smoked like crazy because the stock t25 was beat so I replaced it with a $500 used s14 turbo which I ran from 08' till this winter. This car is my fun time / Drift machine!

So winter 2011 build includes:
garrett gtx2867r
pbm high mount intercooler
b&m supercooler for the oil
tomei poncam's
arp head studs
apex-i headgasket
apex-i power fc d-jetro
Deatschwerks 810cc injectors

I really cant wait to see what this new gtx turbo is going to do on the dyno. The compressor map shows that it will push over 30psi.
The turbine and exhaust housing are exactly the same as the gt2871r.

Looks like a solid list. I have heard great things about the gtx2867r.

I would also recomend that you look into the JWT S3 Cams as well

I already bought the poncams so I think ill stick with those.
Something else I wanted to share. Everyone seems to burn out there subframe bushings when it is not necessary. All you need is a solid piece of metal of the right diameter and a hammer. Here is a subframe bushing removal tool I turned out of aluminum.

Image

Having friends stand on the subframe helps.

Image

Finished product. Not mine but I have done the same thing to mine and it is awesome!
Doing it this way makes it an hour job instead of wasting a whole day lighting things on fire.

It probably only took me 2 hours to burn the old bushings out and brushed down to metal. But that is a good idea non the less..

and not everyone is a machinist ;)

I have been really sick and had daily driver cars to fix so I haven't gotten alot done on the sr. But I have gotten more parts in. Including this beautiful turbo

A nice tomei Turbine outlet to go with it.

PBM high mount intercooler

Pile of parts

So I hope within a moth to be posting dyno results. Stay tuned!

I'm digging that intercooler! Are you able to keep the front bumper reinforcement with that?

I haven't seen or heard to much about the gtx2867r, so this thread intrigues me.

What's wrong with burning things?

It also only took me about 3 hours to burn and cut the bushings out, and that includes taking the subframe out of my car and taking it apart.

Yes you can keep the reinforcment with the intercooler. ill prolly end up cutting up the front bumper to get more air to it though.

There is nothing wrong with burning things. I just think this way is more efficient.

I love your setup.

Are you going to extrude hone that manifold? I love Cody Ace's wastegate flange service. So clean..

Post some pictures of your chassis. I spy a cage in that battery mount picture and didn't see a cage in your photos from last season..

Thanks man. I ported the manifold some myself to clean up the flanges and stuff. no extrude hone though. I dont have a cage either. It's a strut bar I welded in about two years ago. I do plan on a cage at a later date though.

So I will be taking the car out for a spin today on 7psi of boost and stock ecu and injectors. Just to shake things down and make sure its all ok. Then i'll bring it home put the power fc map sensor and 810cc injectors in and wait for my dyno day on may 7th. Wish me luck!
Then i'll see you guys here on the 11th?

Nice build man, looks like quality parts and quality work. Love the blue! I've got a friend with a sapphire blue hatch that's more or less a parts car, but I'd love to have it on the road.

What are the plans for getting air flow to the high mount intercooler? Just vent holes on the nose of the bumper, or any panels on the mouth of the bumper to push air upward to the intercooler (without starving the radiator of course)?

Also, what wheels are those on the rear? Size/width/offset if you know them.

As everyone else has said, days spent lighting things on fire are never wasted...

really like your build, wish I had a machine shop at my disposal lol

Thanks man, I love the color too. I have only seen a couple of them on the road, must be because it was a 93' only color.

I have a few ideas i'm playing with on airflow for the intercooler. I dont really want to cut holes in the front bumper because I think it will make it look like a honda with the "go fast holes" in the rear bumper. Im leaning toward cutting two slits nex to the head lights and folding the top of the bumper in.

The wheels are a saleen mustang replica 17x10 +20. I had them powdercoated shocker yellow over superchrome.

So the dyno monday went really good. It made 375whp 330ftlb at 20-21 psi. It hits full boost at 4200rpm.
It could have made more but the tuner said the exhaust cam is too small.

Yeah I have a chart but that's what it shows. It was on a dyno jet and I hear they have less load then a Mustang dyno so that could be why the numbers are a little higher. I had it on the street today but I wasn't really watching the tach. I was more trying to keep it in a straight line lol. Ill get back to ya on the spool time but there is nothing wrong with the car. Doesn't the 2871r fully spool around 4000rpm? It is the same turbine.

Sounds about right for a gtx2867r with .86 a/r with stock log manifold.

Full spool you mean full boost, at 28psi?
I imagine it starts spinning around 2500 rpm?
Please please post your dyno chart!

sick!
