93 S13...just did 5speed swap, car ONLY starts with a push start

I cut the 2 wires for the neutral safety switch on the transmission, still wont even turn over.

My starter has had a history of messing up (sometimes it'd take me three turns of the ignition in my auto until it would start).

The car was down fro the swap for around 4 days. I tried banging the starter...nothing.

My friend told me I should buy a new one while the starter is out for the swap, but I didn't listen to him.

I'm thinking I should buy a starter tomorrow...any other suggestions?

It does start when we push start it, i even drove it around for a bit.

My friend mentioned to try turning the car over while it was on so we could try and hear the starter try and turn over, but nothing happened. PLEASE HELP

I'd suggest you get a new starter and go from there, since you mentioned it's been messed up anyways. really for $120ish bucks you might as well get it, since you might need one pretty soon. good luck.

Have you tried feeding 12v right to the starter??? id try that... Just be sure its in neutral If the starter goes when you give it 12volts then youve got an electrical problem elsewhere..... Maybe the inhibitor switch?

We found the problem, and it runs now...with the help of a push start button lol
