Hey guys, I posted about this a few days ago but I was a little vague. So, here we go again. I just got my motor back and installed it about a week ago, I connected every plug and I think every ground on the car. Now, I tried to start the car last week and it turned over fine and when I shot some starting fluid in the intake I heard the motor fire and try to start so I left it alone for the weekend. The fuel lines weren't hooked up at that point so I assumed that it would simply fire off and I could troubleshoot idle and stuff later after I hooked up the fuel lines. However, somewhere in the week long gap that I didnt' work on it, something went wrong. I had spark before but now I'm not getting any spark from the coil. I used a voltmeter and check the coil, condenser, and transistor. Everything has power running to it but when I hook a spark plug to the side that plugs into the dizzy and ground it and turn the motor over, there is no spark at all. So, one would think, it's the coil. And I did, so I went to the junk yard and got what I was told is a working coil. Again, I have the same problem, no spark. So tonight I looked all over the harness and engine bay for grounds that weren't connected. And I found one on the back of the alternator. I Tightened it down and still the coil wouldn't produce a spark. I've checked all of the fuses, and all of the relays have continuity so I'm sure I can rule all of that out. The only thing I haven't tried is taking the dizzy apart. I read somewhere that there is a ring with 360 teeth on it that is used with the cam angle sensor. I may be wrong. But I can't seem to find any info on it, and i'm exhausted. Anyway, if anybody has any insight or knowledge that they could share, i'd really appreciate it. Just to recap, the car is a 93 hatchback with a ka24de and a 5 speed.

Did you ever find out what the problem was??? Cause I'm having the same problem. Put a dizzy cranked it, it fired up, and idle fine. It got late waited a week to put the fan and fan shroud back on. Tried to started and all it did was just turned. Come to find out it's not getting spark. Let me know!!!

get a coil that you know is working.recheck all groundsso your getting power to your coil but not from your coil.sounds like a bad coil, or bad spark plug wire.

Hey, I still haven't figured out why I don't have spark. I followed the troubleshooting guide in the FSM down to the t. I broke down and bought a new dizzy, condensor/resistor, and plug wires. Didn't fix the problem i'm sad to say. The only thing to do now is check, recheck, and rerecheck ground wires and connections. One week it had spark, and the next it didn't. I probably knocked a ground loose. I have an extra blade type ground that goes somewhere and it may be part of the problem. The only thing I haven't tried is a new ecu. I'm gonna borrow my buddys to see if that does the trick. BTW. Check the forum with the article on how to read your ecu's l.e.d. light. It can help you narrow things down a lot. I think mine still shows a code 21. No ignition signal to the ECU. While working on my radio, I had a power wire ground itself out and it may have fried a circut in the ECU. I'll keep you posted on what I find. I'll be working on my car this Saturday and Sunday. If you find anything else out post it. Talk to Yall later.

Still won't start. I had the mechanics that built the motor come by to trouble shoot and they were immediatley able to factor out other problems. So the problem with my car is going to be one of three things. A bad ignitor chip since it didn't pass the bench test. A corroded connector or loose ground. I'll keep you posted. I hope you have better luck with yours.
