We started the car and drove it into the garage, lifted it up and changed the driver's side rear caliper and rear breaks. When we dropped it down, we could no longer get it to start. It cranks but will not start. We thought it might have just been flooded, since i wasn't paying attention as i started it, and left it a few days to air out. After three days it still wouldn't start. We checked compression, air, fuel and spark, and everything passes so it should start.

I'm wondering if it's the security system preventing the car from starting, since i had to mess with the break sensor, but have no clue how to check this or disable it. Any insight would be great.

You need to read the previous posts!

You started your car cold and shut it off after a few seconds. What you have done with the rich setting is wash the oil off your cylinder walls and now you have no compression.

Always let the car warm up enough to get the needle off the peg, at least.

I start my car and shut it off in seconds when I move it in my drive way all the time.Maybe the fuel is flooded or soemthing.I forget what it's called but do this.

1.Push your foot on the gas all the way down.2.Crank the car on fo like 30seconds3.If it cranks then great.

Other then that it's wierd.I wouldnt sit in the car for more than a minute to jsut move it a little bit good luck.

I read the previous posts and have already checked the compression. Sadly though, that's not the problem we seem to be having

When we call the dealer, they seem to be adamant on it being the security system, even though I highly doubt it. Thank you for your response

Try putting the key and unlocking the open door, If that does nothing try the passenger side. If this does'nt work then its not the security system.

Does the fuel pump buzz for 5 seconds when the ignition is on?

Does the car turn over?

Do you hear a clicking noise when trying to start the car?

Welcome to NICO.

We tried the keys in the door thing to disable the security system the first day, so thank you for reassuring us it's not the security system.

As for the fuel pump, if I remember right, it buzzes for a lot longer than 5 seconds when I have the key in the ignition position. There's no clicking sound and the car turns over just fine, just won't start.

Again, thank you all for your time and input

Nope it should only "Prime" for 5 seconds.

Might be the chain guides that snapped on your car then, Have your replaced them or do you have documentation that proves there metal and not the original plastic chain guides?

We'll head back over to the car and see if it only primes for 5 seconds or longer, since I could only go off memory on the time.

The chain guide, are you talking about the guide for the timing chain? If not i'm a little confused on what it would have to do with the fuel pump. Sorry, I get confused easily lol

If you are talking about the timing chain, I don't know if they were replaced or not. We'll have to look into that. A friend of mine says that none of the 93 or newer ones came with plastic guides.

Thanks Paul

Sorry unknown, meant to say in one of my previous posts we tried that just to be safe, as it's a fix for maxnix's "wash the oil off your cylinder walls and now you have no compression." We tested the compression, and it came out fine so I'm sure we still have a seal.

Also, we double checked the priming time, and it is only 5 seconds, just seemed longer. Who knew 5 seconds could last so long

To recount, we have fuel, air, compression and spark, it'll crank for a while, just won't start. It does seem from time to time like it wants to, but like me on a cold day, says forget it, hits snooze, and just turns back over.

Did you try the "Flooded" starting technique?

But if your car is made after 7/92 then it will have the metal chain guides (According to Nissan FAST) (Nissan/Infiniti parts look up program that dealers use).

Or you can try grounding the fuel pump:

If a timing chain had snapped he'd have bent valves and probably would have heard it or seized the motor. Doubt that's the problem. Check your CAS connector and MAF connector. Never seen an engine that wouldn't compress from "oil wash." It would have to be one tired motor to not make enough compression. These cars are known to have weak CAS connectors and MAF connectors. Could contribute. Plugged fuel filter? Injectors have power? Spark plugs fuel fouled at this point?

Maybe it's hibernating.
