Hello,

I have a 1993 Q45 and need a new drivers side front seat. I went to the local scrap yard and saw a Q45 seat, but was unable to remove it since the seat needs to be moved forward and back so I can access the forward and back bolts of the seat. Since the seat's movement is powered by the seat motor, I was not able to move the seat.

My question is, how can I move the powered seat forward and back? The cars in the junk yard have no car battery and much of the parts have already been removed. I was thinking about bringing in my own car battery and with wires connect the wires to the powered seat to get it to move. Does anyone know how to do this or have better ideas?

Thanks,

Sounds like your best bet... I'm assuming long extensions to get to those front bolts wouldn't work? I'm guessing the rear bolts are more of the issue?

If the harness isn't completely hacked I'd try to feed the fuse socket for that circuit with your battery vs. trying to tap into the wiring harness. You should be able to use a flat blade crimp on connector to plug the positive terminal of your battery into the circuit side of the fuse socket - then just hook the negative terminal of your battery to the chassis at some point to ground it. The good news is that there's no keyed cut-out for the seats... they move even with no key in the ignition. You shouldn't need a huge battery to accomplish this... if you have a lawn tractor, that size should get it done.

If all else fails, maybe you could use long extensions to get the front bolts out, bend the hell out of the rear mounting points to get the seats leaned back - and then try to remove the cushions from the frame. Then reattach them to your existing frames.

Good luck!

Heath
