Sparkplugs.com also has good prices. Expect about $10 a piece.

Our friend Wes did an excellent writeup on spark plugs:

zerothread?id=25218

There is tons of useful info in NICO's well-organized articles section, as well as the stale stuff on Q45.org. Best of luck! Its a tedious job.

I dunno if these are right.

I bought the NGK G-Power platinum the oem ones come out to $112 and i only had $90 to spend on the gasket and plugs.

Will they still work?

They are BKR5EGP

What gasket? the 90-93 uses liquid silicone to seal valvecovers? The plugs you bought are a single platinum plug, factory correct is a double platinum plug.....yours will work, but their useful life will be shorter than the double platinum plug.....

a poor area to try and save money considering how long and difficult a plug change job can be....maybe you will get 50,000 miles out of them as compared to 100,000+ from factory plugs????

The trick is to install a sparkplug that will last at least as long as the valvecover reseal job.....then do both plugs and re-sealing as 1 job to save money and time

Your plugs will need to be gapped to .44, as they are set at .40 out of the box on that model, whereas the correct plug comes pre-gapped at .44

Hope you didnt pay much more than $3.00 per plug for those.

paid $3 per plug. The rocker gasket best say.The oil is in the spark plugs thats why im replacing.I also have a misfire/backfire i think from this.Happens at random times.I would love to get the expensive ones but since i need both repaired it's the only way.

What you mean gapped?Im confused about that part.

PFRG5 from Joe were about $60.

Why not check with him? Or wait until you can afford the correct plugs?

I wasn't aware that they lasted 100,000+ miles, I though 60,000 miles according to the Q45 manual. How were the spark plugs when you last replaced them?

But like everyone says just pay a little extra to know you have the right product and won't have to do it for a while.

Somebody needs to find the old thread about they guy that had some cheapos in and they blew apart inside the cylinder. He was lucky it didn't thrash said cylinder.Skimping on such a relatively cheap part is beyond me.And yes ,, I too live on a budget.

And AC and Autolite.

The PFRG are the ONLY plugs specified by the FSM.

They tried selling me Bosch.I got NGK G-Power Platnium tip.Only difference is I'm going to have to replace aout 50k or less then i'll buy some expensive ones.First things first gasket and sparks.Had only $90 in hand so it worked out.My sparks weren't changed since who knows when because of previous owner.I didn't know anything about the car at that time now i know way more.

Got my gasket so it is silicone. It came with a tube bottle of silicone, 2 black rubber circles with holes in the middle, and four half circles that are think and i think goes on the bumps?

You think i can use that silicone to seal the front part too?I was looking at the FSM and it said liquid gasket on the front and where oil pan is and valve covers.

Is it possible the silicone in mine burnt up maybe? It is letting oil in though.
