Hello, I'm new to NICO but have many question! To start I have a 93 Q45 with a bad knock ( Rod bearing ). Car has no traction control or suspension control. What do I need to do to install a traction control motor? What's the difference?Should I have the crank ground and find new rods? Would that be cheaper?I've talk to my local machine shops and was told to find a motor.I have a nice car that I can't drive! Please Help! Thanks[email protected]:help

Engine replacement is almost always better in this situation. If you want traction control, best to find a car so equipped, before you replace the engine in this one.

Hmm,

This question is a bit harder than I thought, maybe Dennis should cover it.But I would think wouldnt be too big an issue..

I currently hace a TCS ECU in my car which is non TCS, runs fine ( but makes trouble diagnostics hard since it always throws hard codes).

Why are you asking specifically for a TCS motor?

Do you have a good one on hand?

Sometimes a chap gets lucky on ebay ( I did get a great VH45de for $1500, but thats unusual deal)..

It seems every time I get a line a good engine it's a traction control car it came from. I don't what to spend a lot but need the car dependable.Thanksracefan79

Just exchange the throttle body and air inlet hose from your old motor and sell the newer unit TB/TCS motor on ebay.

After all you really want to use the best parts from each motor with new hoses, sensors, harnesses...........it mix and match hoping you guess right.

Find someone who has done a dozens swaps.

Getting a useful motor is the easy part, rehabilitation of the newer motor is the hard part.

Don't forget to pull the front cover of the replacement engine to check for metal guides!

Execute a "NICO" search for "Q45 cam guides" in articles section ( which summarizes many old treads).
