I had been running 87 octane, but the owners manual said use premium for optimum performance. I'm kind of in the dark here. I'm assuming the ECU pulls timing due to knock sensor readings w/ regular. If so, how long does it take for the ECU to return to "normal"? I've switched to 93 octane. It seems expensive, but if you do the math it's only like and extra $3.20 per tank.

I knew about unhooking the battery, I just wondered if the ECU would "learn" to not pull timing after seeing less knock at WOT. If it ever stops raining I'll go unhook the battery.

yea, the ECU will "learn" that you have switched back to premium gas... cause the knock sensor won't be working as hard now...

It'll just take some time. So be lazy about this
