I have a 93 maxima SOHC(red valve covers) & the timing belt has broke..doesnt look to have bent any valves..is that possible? are they not an interference engine? I have taken & put an air compressor hose to each cylinder through a compression gauge hose & all cylinders hold air really good..isnt going out intake or exhaust..so Is it really hard to replace the belt on this car & how possible can it be that the valves are not bent? Thanks,Brian

Welcome to nico. The engine is an interference motor. However it has not been unheard of to have a belt break and not bend valves. It would have to break at near TDC for this to happen. Putting the belt on is fairly easy. line up marks on factory belt with dots on pullies and set tension. When you are setting cams and crank up on TDC besure you have plugs out so you can feel if the pistons contact the valves when doing so. You dont want to force the pistons into the valves for obvious reasons.
