I just bought a 93NIssan 240sx coupe and it only gets more strange from here.

Plug one had oil on the top portion so I bought and installed a valve cover gasket. Upon doing so I found that the only valve cover gasket that fit was for a 95 motor. NO PROBLEM.... so i put it on, but the motor still has problems.

When I start the car it run's okay for a few seconds, then when I give it gas it hesitates or bogs then it runs okay after Im driving. However when Im stopped it idles really really rough like its going to die. Then when I hit the gas again it bogs and the cycle is repeated.

I took off and cleaned the AII valve, bought the NGK/R plugs as the manufacturer reccomends, changed the cap, but still having this problem.

Can anyone here offer me some much needed guidance.

Thanks guys,

sam

Your situation sounds similiar to mine, I just changed my fuel filter and got my injectors cleaned out at Penzoil. They do some 45 minute clean-out for $50 bucks. I'd go get em cleaned wouldnt hurt seeming its probably never been done. And instead of getting a stock fuel filter if you dont already have this get one for the 300zx.

thanks bro i appreciate the feedback. I will replace the fuel filter and get the injectors inspected. I will also inspect the timing as it has been suggested to me by one of the moderators here.

thanks again bro.

Like srpowered180 said change the fuel filter. I'd start there first, cause I'm cheap(haha). Then clean your injectors if that didn't work.Replacing your pcv valve wouldn't hurt either(like $8). It could be a problem with your MAF sensor, or MAF sensor reading "false air" from a leak somewhere between it and the head. That's just an educated guessthough.

Changing your fuel filter, and pcv valve probably should be done regardlessif you don't follow a maintenance scedule.

When I changed my fuel filter, I blew the gas out with an air line, and tried to blow through the old filter with my mouth. It was plugged compared to the resistance of the new one. I cut the old one apart with a hack saw to inspect it, and it looked like absolute shyt.

I seriously felt a good power gain simply by replacing the stock filter. My car wasn't even running badly before, I just replaced it as routine maintenance.

2fizzle00- it IS easier to post two words instead of helping someone, ISN'T IT?It pisses me off when people do that. It's not like this is a retarded question(if it were I would make fun too.....maybe). If you don't have a POSITIVE comment/suggestion, then don't make a post.

Thank you sir I will surely replace the fuel filter and pcv valve. The price sounds reasonable enough for me.
