I have a 93 Maxima w/VG30. I've been experiencing alot of vibration/hesitation and lack of power accelerating. No check engine indicator. Car has 135k, timing belt was done around 70k. Checked timing and was very cloese to the 4th mark from left on crank pully. Might be time for new belt. What are the degree increments of the timing marks on the crank pulley and in what direction do they increase? How do I loosen distributor to adjust? Thanks.

I'm not sure what the timing increments are, but you can find the timing procedure on EF & EC-29. http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/maxima/1994/ec.pdf

From left to right it starts at 0 and goes up in increments of 5 degrees so yours is actually pretty close to being on time of 15 degrees. I would highly recommend getting the timing belt changed though. Its a little past the recommended 60k interval or at least getting very close.

I would also check the condition of your other ignition components like the distributor cap and rotor, plugs, and wires.

Other known problems are the fuel injectors, though I believe the 93's were supposed to have the updated injectors so they should be ok.
