I own a 93 Maxima w/ an auto transmission. The transmission started slipping in high gears under power and making sloppy shifts in all gears.

I paid good money to have the transmission rebuilt and the problem came back with a week.

I have heard that the transmission cooling system is problematic on these cars. Is that true and would it be causing my problem?

I don't want the transmission to be rebuilt again just to have the problem again.

Thanks for any help.

It is true that your gen maxmia has trans cooling issues and can be solved with trans cooler.

Your slippage is not from the trans heating. At least not that soon after a rebuild. Take it back to the guys that did it and DEMAND that they fix it.

Yeah, that's pretty damn fishy. That's why I like to have work that I can't do myself (like this) done at professional shops (like, Aamco). They can't easily be held accountable for their work. And if they give you a hard time, there is always a corporate number to call. Good luck to you, definitely give them hell.

Thanks guys...I'm definitely working on them to get this resolved. I wish it were something I felt competent with, but auto-trannies are like magic boxes to me.

Oh, I'm sorry. This sounds VERY VERY familiar to me. I went through the exact same thing. Definitely go back and make them do the job right.

Sorry 2 hear that man...my mother had a '93 Maxima GXE and the trans went out when the mileage got high. She had the trans rebuild by Aamco & as soon as the warranty ran out the trans went again....so I would recommend taking it back asap and get the trans cooler and get an extended warranty
