93 KA24DE wont start.

Okay so I have had issues with this car for a while now. It has been misfiring, running rich, and backfiring. Well I checked the timing chain today and at TDC my cams are aligned correctly. Next I pulled the distributor cap, and at TDC the indicator was pointed to cylinder #3. I pulled the distributor, aligned the indicator to fire cylinder #1, and now it wont start. Also for some odd reason my starter just died, it was in great working shape, I just put it in a few weeks ago because I had a spare and my other one was awful. So I dont know... Shouldnt the car be firing and starting? I dont know why setting the distributor to fire cylinder #1 at TDC would mess anything up...
