my car wont go in park R, N, D, 1, 2, 3 all work just fine im confused

It's likely the clip is broken after 18-19 years of use.

Might need to elaborate Driver.
Are you saying the connection at the transmission Shift connection ?
Or the clip on the Shifter itself ?

Check the clip on the shifter first. Mine broke sometime ago on a very, very cold winter morning (-20 f). I couldn't reverse out of the driveway. The shifter however did move into n, d, d1, d2 and p. I had it flatbedded to the dealer where they determined the clip was brittle and broken. They replaced it in about 30 minutes and I was on my way.

I wouldn't make it a day in that ..
Although I do fine working on the J when its 110F.

Kudo's to you Canuk's for dealing with that bitter cold.
+18F was about all the cold I could take with a 20 mph wind.
It HURT !!
