My '94 J30 got in a little ding... some idiot cut me off, I swerved to avoid him, next thing you know I am spinning uncontrollably from the right lane all the way to the concrete median, some 4 lanes... it had rained that day. I ended up hitting the driver side rear corner in the concrete median which stopped the car, thankfully. I didn't hit anyone and noone hit me so I was able to walk out of it with only a stiff left hand. However the car was sadly totaled by Progressive. It was still drivable, but a gas smell would be felt when starting the engine for about 2 minutes. I had 132K on it before the accident. No matter, insurance gave me 4500 for it. Oh and a word on Progressive... they may be a little expensive but never before has an insurance company cut me a check on the spot after inspecting the damage.

So I go out in search of another J... sad very sad to say there aren't that many in the market. What is there now is badly mantained, not cared for, owned by people who really don't know what they have.

I was able to find a decent shape J30T, a 1993 model. It's got 168K miles on it, but it drives just fine. I swaped a couple of parts from the crashed one to the new one... the hood, the inside driver's door trim, the tires. But I am having a little issue... none of the windows will work, nor does the stereo or the sunroof. It seems they aren't getting any power at all. The guy that sold it to me said they were working fine, and he suggested the fuse box. So we swapped fuses from the crashed J to the new J, no doing...

Would any of you knowledgeable folks know what could be going on?

It couldn't be the motors... I know this because I did change a motor on the crashed J a few months ago. It seems they aren't even getting power because there is no electric click sound when the contacts connect. I am having the car looked over from head to toe by this friend of a friend who is a car genius, but I wanted to get some info from you J owners out in the ether....

Thanks in advance.

well I played around with the fuse box today and got the windows and sunroof to work.

Audio still nothing... the Bose lights up when the headlights are on, and the system pulls and ejects a CD, but the display doesnt show anything. And when I turn over the engine, the speakers will give a 2 second loud noise then they go dead... Any ideas?

lack of display always indicates that your head unit is dead (very common issue in J's). Your options are (1.) rebuilt head unit that can be obtained through Infiniti dealer (2.) take a chance with a head unit from Ebay (they are available from time-to-time (c.) Go aftermarket (many threads on that, run a "search".)

yea, i think I will get an aftermarket radio...

suddenly though, today the windows and sunroof stopped working! I was going to the bank, rolled down the driver side window and opened the sunroof... next thing I know they're both stuck open. Now none of the windows will operate... I will play with the fuse box again.. but any ideas folks?

Hhmmmm..

On my 1993 J30t, the radio and heater wont `power up`.

The CD Player(aftermarket) ejects a CD, but doesnt play music.

What I have to do, is after I start the carturn the key counterclockwise a mm or two, and the cd player and the radio work. same with the windshield wipers.. i turn the key towards the off position about a millimeter..

Wierd..
