My '94 J30 got in a little ding... some idiot cut me off, I swerved to avoid him, next thing you know I am spinning uncontrollably from the right lane all the way to the concrete median, some 4 lanes... it had rained that day. I ended up hitting the driver side rear corner in the concrete median which stopped the car, thankfully. I didn't hit anyone and noone hit me so I was able to walk out of it with only a stiff left hand. However the car was sadly totaled by Progressive. It was still drivable, but a gas smell would be felt when starting the engine for about 2 minutes. I had 132K on it before the accident. No matter, insurance gave me 4500 for it. Oh and a word on Progressive... they may be a little expensive but never before has an insurance company cut me a check on the spot after inspecting the damage.
So I go out in search of another J... sad very sad to say there aren't that many in the market. What is there now is badly mantained, not cared for, owned by people who really don't know what they have.
I was able to find a decent shape J30T, a 1993 model. It's got 168K miles on it, but it drives just fine. I swaped a couple of parts from the crashed one to the new one... the hood, the inside driver's door trim, the tires. But I am having a little issue... none of the windows will work, nor does the stereo or the sunroof. It seems they aren't getting any power at all. The guy that sold it to me said they were working fine, and he suggested the fuse box. So we swapped fuses from the crashed J to the new J, no doing...
Would any of you knowledgeable folks know what could be going on?
It couldn't be the motors... I know this because I did change a motor on the crashed J a few months ago. It seems they aren't even getting power because there is no electric click sound when the contacts connect. I am having the car looked over from head to toe by this friend of a friend who is a car genius, but I wanted to get some info from you J owners out in the ether....
Thanks in advance.
